In Defense of a Little Quietness

It is amazing to have a day off. The Victoria Day weekend in Canada is the weekend where gardeners pray for gentleness from the sun, cottagers pray for mild temperatures, and people like me pray for a little quietness. My prayer was answered. The morning started early as my Beloved is away and so nudged by sweet singing in the tree outside and total peace inside, I stretched and rose – deciding to embrace the day with some productive activity out of the gate.

It was joyous having the time and space to T..H..I..N..K. What would the first task be? A little closet reorganizing is always good for the soul. Followed by a little reading to inspire me. On the heels of this there was breakfast delicously shared with a dear friend. Closet continuation. Task completed! It felt so good to get things done. It was restorative to spend time thinking and reflecting on yesterday’s Bible teaching.

Everything colluded to provide a mixture of peace, rest, quietness and inspiration. If every Monday could be spent this way…my imagination is carrying me away…to time in the hammock…or at the lake watching the turtles sun themselves over a thermos of hot coffee. I’m feeling positive about my alternatives and my quest for balance. I’m looking forward to the week stretching before as I continue to consider my life, my issues and the road forward.

God is good. All the time.
