The Best Laid Plans Ottawa Departure

The day started a little later than planned. My Beloved rested and everyone else in no rush. We greeted the day with some coffee and some yummy breakfast, chatted more, chatted more again….and reluctantly made tracks. The sun was inviting us to hit the road in much cooler temperatures.

HUGS all around and off we go. The ride is pleasant enough and we ponder the approaching fall season. I remark this is probably my last long trip of the season and we chat a bit and we fall into our own reverie as we enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

The sun was lulling us into a sense of security because once we were committed to the ‘scenic route’ – the usual happened…rain. Scurried to get on the rain gear and we continue. Rain, wind. our personal hurricane was descending upon us. Hurricane Earl was in my mind and praying that everyone was safe…hoping Hurricane Ottawa was not going to swallow us.

We pressed on and enjoyed another comfort food meal in Belleville and hit the 401. We were buffeted about between traffic and wind and we simply needed to ‘get home’ at this point.

These trips are so wonderful for the brain and the body as the warm fellowship of friends like RL2 and Mr. and Mrs. in Osgoode feeds us a healthy dose of ‘feel good’. Driving the distances and braving the conditions just makes the story more interesting. We are grateful to God for HIS hand over us.

You captured our “best laid plans” so well. We’re grateful HE really knew best and had all things under HIS control! Hoping this annual tradition continues for many more years to come.
