Flights and Fights July 26, 2010

Our Air France flight originating from Toronto started scary and stayed that way. The din in the line coming from young travelers was already deafening – little did we know we would have our ‘extra roomy seats’ smack dab in the middle of 200 Spanish high school students returning home from their own high adventure in Canada. No supervisors, youthful exuberance all lead to a vert trying, restless night over the Atlantic. The flight attendants felt so sorry and placated us with champagne. Although a kind gesture, nothing short of the cone of silence would provide shelter from the ceaseless barrage of Spanish through the night. We arrived in Paris and made our way to the appointed gate, relieved to be able to relish in peace and quiet, only to have our flight to Florence cancelled, re-scheduled and a yo-yo race between gates. We finally made it on board, promptly fell asleep and awakened to our descent over the Tuscan hills upon approach. We’re HERE.
